The BBC remains the essence of Britishness for those of us who live outside the UK. Willingly I would pay the licence fee from my home in Brussels. The pleasure of an intelligent English speaking channel with first rate drama, news, soaps and current affairs, and without any advertisements, is immense. The number of non English people here who regularly tune into BBC is HUGE. Compared to French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Belgian etc TV, the BBC is on a completely different level. BBC is a great vehicle to promote British values. BUT put less trash (reality) TV on - eg car chases, police and grime and more repeats of some of the great comedy of the past. Second BUT: how about making BBC more accessible to viewers outside the UK and making it a truly global channel - from our second home in Spain, it appears BBC 1 and 2 are impossible to get. WHY??? With so many Brits leaving the UK and moving to France and Spain, you must sort out a way for millions of Brits and others to keep watching (and paying) for BBC. Third BUT: Shame we can't get the new digital channels from here - please make them accessible to we Brits abroad. PS The BBCi website is FANTASTIC and must surely be voted the best in the world!
