Thank you for the opportunity to respond to this review. My points would be 1) As a user of freeview and FTA sky services, and a subscriber to NTL cable I support the work the BBC has done to develop new digital services. 2) I enjoy BBC 3 and 4 and the new programmes offered. My criticisms would be a) The overuse of uneccessary DOGs on these channels. Huge numbers of liscence payers oppose them, and the BBCs excuses for using them do not wash. All three platforms have epgs which showwhat is on at anytime. My own little website shows that very clearly http://uk.geocities.com/logofree2004/. The DCMS should ban Dogs on the BBC. Give us qualitry TV b) The late start time seems odd- I think they should run 24 hrs even just to repeat the nightime output during the day. 3) BBC News 24 is first class (again apart from DOGs) In my view Sky news is better for the serious competiition from the BBC 4) Teletext should be reinstated on all digital platforms. It is tried and tested- and beats the other digital text hands down 5) The BBC deal with Flextech should be cancelled - the archive should be free to license payers without adverts.(and dogs)- Uk gold etc should be free to view. 6) The BBC should launch a BBC sports channel to show the archive and make better use of existing sports rights, eg rugby league highlights. The BBC should be allowed to create a subscription sports channel so it can compete with sky sports for rights. The current monopoly of Sky sports is dangerous to both sport and tv in the long term. 7) All international output (bbc world, bbc prime, bbc america etc) should be available to the domestic viewer regards Martin Dean
