Since its inception I have been impressed with the output of the BBC digital channels, in terms of choice, specificity of audience, and quality of programmes. I would particularly highlight BBC News 24 for its quality and accessibility, and BBC4 for its programmes, though no doubt the latter is subjective judgement based on personal interests. Being a cable customer, I have ready access to a very large number of channels and am in a position to compare. The quality of the vast majority of those channels is frankly dire. In my view it is important to continue to support the BBC not only to enable it to maintain the quality and range of its service, but to ensure we have continue to have access to high quality broadcast material in the midst of such rubbish. This is especially true given that younger generations do not necessarily think of or tune to the BBC or ITV automatically. Julian Baldwin Secondary School Deputy Headteacher
