Until about 12 months ago I was able to view BBC digital over my satellite dish. But since then the quality of picture has deteriorated during certain parts of the year. During the winter months the picture is fine but in the past few weeks it has become pixilised and if last year is anything to go by will become unviewable until October. The BBC say it is my satellite dish that is the problem, but all other digital programmes are fine. I also know friends who bought "freeview" over Christmas and are finding similar difficulties at this time of the year. It is all very well having quality programmes with sharper pictures if the license payer can only see them for part of the year. I was very excited about the introduction of BBC4 but disappointed by their use of DOGs which I find more intrusive than on other channels! I know for certain programmes these are no longer used but as Artsworld and Channel 5 have now dispensed with theirs isn't it time the BBC had the confidence to follow suit. I am sure more people would watch this channel. I have found the content of BBC4 quite refreshing particularly with its non Hollywood films and would be looking forward to some live Proms but I fear that the poor reception will have got a hold by then and I shall have to go back to the radio.
