CONTROL ARMS CAMPAIGN

london_tankControl Arms is calling for a global, legally binding Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) to stop weapons being used to fuel conflict, poverty and human rights abuses. The campaign is run jointly by International Action Network on Small Arms, Amnesty International, and Oxfam International.

This year's Global Week of Action Against Gun Violence is 10-16 May. It is the world's largest coordinated action against armed violence, - last year there were events in over 90 countries. The Week of Action is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate global support for a strong and ethically principled Arms Trade Treaty, before preliminary UN negotiations start in July.


World's biggest Arms Traders Promise Global Arms Treaty

On Friday 30 October at the United Nations after years of discussions and debates, the vast majority of governments – 153 in total - agreed a timetable to establish a “strong and robust” Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) with the “highest common standards” to control international transfers of conventional arms. There is currently no global Treaty on the conventional arms trade.
