MoD Defence Contracts
Introduction image of soldier

Every year the Ministry of Defence spends around £15 billion on equipment, works and miscellaneous stores and services ranging from tanks to tools and from clothing to window cleaning. Nobody within the UK spends more and nobody can match the range of their requirements. The MoD buys from multinational companies, down to the smallest limited companies and sole traders.

To get the best value for money, the MoD encourage new suppliers of all sizes - including small firms - to compete for defence business.

If you are serious in your business, you should be considering the MoD as one of your customers.

The opportunities for contractors are endless.

MoD Defence Contracts Bulletin contains:

Possible Future Purchases – providing suppliers with advance notification of forthcoming MoD tenders or contracts

Tenders Invited and Contract Award Notices – listing companies who have been invited to tender for Possible Future Purchases and also those to whom contracts have been awarded, allowing sub-contractors/sub-suppliers to make direct contact to offer their goods and services
Sub-Contract Opportunities – providing potential business opportunities valued in excess of £250,000 for those companies wishing to act as sub-contractors/sub-suppliers to the MoD. This section will be of particular interest to SMEs wishing to become defence contractors – it is not necessary to be a registered defence contractor to carry out sub-contract work on an MoD contract
Existing Contracts – for Management and Specialist Land Term Commissions, Works Services Managers and Establishment Works Consultants – giving specialist contractors the opportunity to offer their services direct to the contractors listed in this section MoD Supplier Announcements and Reports – featuring defence procurement news and reports and related feature articles

There are a vast number of sub-contracting and supply opportunities created as a result of the many new contracts awarded, which involve a huge variety of goods and services.

Opportunities exist for companies of all sizes to tender for opportunities of all values – company size need not prohibit you from securing defence business.
