Good practice in the design and presentation of consumer survey evidence in merger inquiries

Start date: 25 May 2010
Close date: 3 September 2010

The Competition Commission (CC) and Office of Fair Trading (OFT) have published a joint consultation on a good practice guide for the design and presentation of consumer survey evidence.

The guide is intended to assist parties and their advisors who wish to provide consumer survey evidence in merger inquiries.

The guide notes several principles of good survey design and sets out a range of practices that will tend to increase the evidential weight that can be given to survey results. Examples of good and poor practice drawn from recent investigations are presented.
