COMPETITION COMMISSION: ENTERPRISE ACT CONSULTATION SEMINAR
OPERATIONAL NOTE
The Competition Commission is to hold a seminar about
the Commissions new functions and procedures that will be adopted after
the Enterprise Act comes into force. The seminar will be held at Savoy Place
(The Institution of Electrical Engineers), London, WC2 on Monday 18 November
2002, 5.30pm 7.30pm.
On 17 September the Commission launched the consultation
process on its new procedures and guidance. The guidance was circulated widely
throughout the business, legal, financial and economist communities, consumer
bodies, regulators and government departments, all of whom have been invited
to attend this event.
The seminar has been designed to open up the discussion
on issues raised in the consultation documents, the guidance on market references
and merger references in particular. We hope it will be an interesting event,
offering plenty of opportunity for questions and formal and informal exchanges
of views.
The event will be webcast and available to view from the
afternoon of 19 November via the Commissions website at:
www.competition-commission.org.uk/inquiries/enterpriseact.htm
Representatives of the press are welcome to attend as
observers. Interviews with the Chairman, Dr Derek Morris, can be arranged to
take place after the seminar winds up at 7.30 pm. Dr Morris will also be available
for interviews during normal working hours on 18 November. Journalists and
photographers who wish to attend should contact Francis Royle, the Press Officer,
on 020 7271 0242.
