COMPASS GROUP PLC/RAIL GOURMET HOLDING AG, RESTORAMA AG & GOURMET NOVA: COMPETITION COMMISSION INVITES EVIDENCE

Melanie Johnson, Competition Minister, has asked the Competition Commission to look into the proposed acquisition by Compass Group of Rail Gourmet Holding AG, Restorama AG and Gourmet Nova.

The Commission will look at all aspects of the merger's likely effects on the public interest, including the impact on the market for on-train food services in the UK. The Commission has been asked to report to the Secretary of State by 17 June 2002. The report will be published later.

The Commission would like to hear from all interested parties in writing by Monday 22nd April 2002. If you wish to submit evidence please write to:
