COMPETITION COMMISSION INVITES EVIDENCE ON THE ACQUISITION BY CITY TECHNOLOGY LIMITED OF THE GAS SENSORS BUSINESS OF MARCONI APPLIED TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED

Stephen Byers, Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, has asked the Competition Commission to look into the acquisition by City Technology Ltd of the gas sensors business of Marconi Technologies Ltd which operates under the name of "EEV".

The Commission’s inquiry will look into the supply in the United Kingdom of catalytic combustible gas sensors (pellistors). The Commission has been asked to report to the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry by 4 April 2001. Its report will be published at a later date.

The Commission would like to hear from all interested parties, in writing, by 19 January 2001. To submit evidence please either write to:
