Senior Team roles

Chief Executive

The Chief Executive manages and provides strategic leadership to the CC. Working with the Chairman and Council he/she monitors the quality of inquiry reports and is responsible for maintaining the organisation’s status as a world-class determinative competition authority. Along with the Chairman, the Chief Executive acts as the public face of the organisation. The Chief Executive is responsible for ensuring that all public funds made available to the CC are used economically, efficiently and effectively.

Chief Financial and Business Adviser

The Chief Financial and Business Adviser leads professional input on financial and business advisory issues and the design and implementation of remedies to competitive issues on CC inquiries. He/she is responsible for building up the CC's expertise and effectiveness on such issues.

Chief Economist

The Chief Economist is responsible for ensuring that the economic analysis carried out by the CC is consistently top class. He/she leads and manages the CC’s Economist team and provides more general advice on competition and regulatory economics issues. 

Chief Legal Adviser

The Chief Legal Adviser leads and manages the CC Legal group and its work, ensuring that senior staff and legal advisers work effectively together, that timely and effective legal advice is provided to the CC and that the Legal group is represented and takes an active role in the day to day running of the CC. 

Director of Corporate Services

The Director of Corporate Services manages the corporate service teams and provides an advisory role to the Chief Executive, and often represents the CC in strategic financial negotiations with BIS, Treasury and other government departments. The Director of Corporate Services advises on the overall strategic direction of the CC.

Director of Policy

The Policy Director supports the CC’s council by providing analysis of competition law and policy matters. He/she communicates the CC’s activities and monitors external perceptions of the CC and its performance. The Policy Director monitors developments in competition and regulatory law and disseminates to the rest of the CC.

Director of Financial and Business Analysis

The Director of Financial Analysis and Business is responsible for supporting and assisting the Chief Financial and Business Advisor in the management and leadership of the CC Financial Analysis Group and ensuring that the financial analysis carried out by the CC is consistently of a high standard. 

Director of Economic Analysis

The Director of Economic Analysis supports the Chief Economist in ensuring that the economic analysis carried out by the CC is consistently top class.  He/she is responsible for assisting the management and leadership of the economics team, as well as providing more general advice on competition and regulatory economics issues.

Director of Remedies and Business Analysis

The Director of Remedies and Business Analysis provides leadership to the Financial and Business Advisers group under the overall direction of the Chief Financial and Business Adviser. He/she advises members of inquiries and the Remedies Standing Group and interacts with external parties.

Inquiry Director

The Inquiry Director has overall managerial responsibility for the CC’s inquiries and investigations. His/her main responsibility is to organise and project manage the inquiry processes, resources and budget to ensure that statutory deadlines are met and the inquiry is of a quality which stands up to legal challenge. The ID is also responsible for drafting and producing provisional findings and the final report, which are based on the professional teams’ working papers and are approved by the Inquiry Chairman and Member Group. 

Legal Director

The Legal Director leads and manages a team of lawyers and support staff within the CC legal group. He/she assists the Chief Legal Adviser in ensuring that Senior Staff and lawyers work effectively together and that timely and sound legal advice is provided to the CC. The Legal Director is also involved in the development of legal competition and regulatory policy on governance issues, and where it arises, litigation.
