Inquiry Manager
£35,000–50,000pa

The Competition Commission is seeking to appoint one or more Inquiry Managers who will play a key role in liaising with the companies involved in its inquiries, managing the administrative team, supporting the Inquiry Director in keeping to the inquiry timetable and coordinating the activities of a team of professional staff (Economists, Financial and Business Analysts and Lawyers) assigned to the inquiry. The Inquiry Manager will play a major part in the collection of evidence and the preparation and drafting of supporting material. The work gives insights into many industries as well as experience in competition issues.

We are seeking applications from candidates with strong project management skills, excellent interpersonal skills, good drafting capabilities, attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure. An understanding of the UK competition regime and/or law and economics is desirable but not essential.

The Competition Commission is seeking to appoint a Head of Planning to cover when the current role holder starts her maternity leave in mid May 2011. This appointment will initially be for nine months with the possibility of an extension to 12 months.

The Head of Planning’s role is to advise the Chief Executive, Director of Corporate Services and other senior staff on corporate planning and governance, strategic key performance indicators, forecasting and monitoring inquiry workload, quality assurance. The role holder is the first point of contact for Commission Members. The Head of Planning is a member of the Corporate Services Management Team.
