Staff interests:
It has recently come
to the Commission's knowledge that Tate and Lyle purchases
chemicals from Terra UK. Our understanding is that these
purchases are not substantial. John Pigott, the Director
of the CC staff team for this inquiry, was an employee of
Tate and Lyle until 1998 and holds shares in that company.
The CC does not believe that this shareholding affects Mr
Pigott's ability to act impartially and independently in
carrying out his duties in this inquiry.
