Disclosures of interest
Members’ interests:
Peter Freeman, Deputy Chairman of the Competition Commission,
has appointed Professor Cosmo Graham to the Group that is
conducting this investigation.
Professor Graham owns 1,795 shares in Unilever NV. Neither
Professor Graham, nor the CC, believes that this matter will
prejudice the ability of the Group to discharge its functions
in an independent and impartial manner.
Staff interests:
Rodney Richards, a member of staff working on this inquiry,
has a 50% interest as residuary beneficiary in his late father’s
estate of which he is an executor. The estate holds the following
shares: 4000 shares in Tesco and 524 shares in Whitbread.
Mr Richard’s children have a 21.4% interest in a family
trust of which Mr Richards is a trustee and which holds 1,117
shares in Compass, 599 shares in Sainsbury and 1,495 shares
in Unilever. The CC does not believe that the matters disclosed
above in relation to Mr Richards affect his ability to act
impartially and independently in advising the Group.
