The Commission is writing to inform you that a member of the Commission's staff, who is temporarily acting as legal adviser to the group of members conducting the above inquiry, is also a trustee for a trust which holds Abbey National shares amongst its investment portfolio.

We are, however, satisfied that this fact will not affect the inquiry. If you have any objection please let us know immediately.

The Commission is writing to inform you that a member of our report production team, which has responsibility for proof reading all Commission reports, has drawn to our attention that she has a family friend who works for Lloyds/Trustees Savings Bank and that he is part of the Lloyds/TSB team working on the banking services inquiry.

We are, however, satisfied that this relationship does not in any way affect the inquiry.
