Mediation in the Planning System

Mediation is the intervention into a dispute by an acceptable impartial neutral person whose role it is to assist the parties in dispute to reach their own mutually acceptable settlement.

Any concepts about planning mediation need to be seen against the planning system of the United Kingdom which entrusts a range of local authorities such as city councils, borough councils and district councils with a statutory duty for land use planning in their areas.
