Planning Policy Statement 9 (PPS9) sets out planning policies on protection of biodiversity and geological conservation through the planning system.
This replaces Planning Policy Guidance 9: Nature Conservation (PPG9) published in October 1994.
The Department has published a consultation on the proposed Planning Policy Statement: Planning for a Natural and Healthy Environment. This sets out streamlined and consolidated planning policy including biodiversity and geological conservation (currently set out PPS9).
