National Improvement and Efficiency Strategy

The National Improvement and Efficiency Strategy (NIES) sets out Central and Local Government's shared vision for better, more efficient, more responsive public services that ensure greater local prosperity and environmental sustainability. The aim is to create a strong framework for supporting improvement and efficiency which government and the Local Government Association (LGA) are committed to, and is owned and driven forward by Local Government and its strategic partners.

The NIES identifies the principles and specific actions for change that will be taken to deliver on this ambition.  It also outlines how success will be measured against these significant commitments.
