Provisions in the Housing Act 2004

The Housing Act 2004 contains a number of measures designed to help local housing authorities tackle anti-social behaviour.

Parts 2, 3 and 4 of the Act introduce powers for local housing authorities to introduce licensing of private rented accommodation, in order to address a number of issues, including anti-social behaviour. These measures are covered in the following factsheets in this series:

Part 6 of the Housing Act 2004 contains a number of measures designed to provide social landlords with further tools to help them tackle anti-social behaviour. These measures complement those introduced by the Anti-social Behaviour (ASB) Act 2003. These measures are covered in Factsheet 12: Anti-social behaviour in social housing.
