The Government recognises the need for a diverse network of green spaces that meet a variety of needs and we are working across Government, agencies and partners to ensure that such environments are fit-for-purpose: clean, safe, attractive and well-maintained. Our vision is for a renaissance of England's green spaces, so that by 2008 the majority of local areas in England have at least one quality green space - with a Green Flag Award to prove it - and over 75 per cent of people are satisfied with their green spaces.
