SFIA has been updated to meet the current requirements of the IT industry. The Government IT Profession was involved in the consultation process and has committed to adopting the new framework. The Government IT Profession
The Government IT Profession brings together all IT professionals working across the UK public sector: UK government departments and agencies, local government, the emergency services and specialist deliverers such as the health sector. It includes everyone from new entrants through to the members of the Chief Information Officer Council.
The Head of Profession is John Suffolk, Kate Silver leads the IT Profession Team, based in the Cabinet Office. The Government IT Profession forms the foundation upon which the government’s IT Centre of Excellence is built and is a leading contributor to the Professional Skills for Government agenda.
