Getting Started

• The Government's strategy - for enhancing the resilience of responder’s communications provides focus to this initiative.
• The resilience of responder communications should be tested against the set of Planning Assumptions [External website], adapted as necessary to local circumstances.
• Five guiding principles provide focus to enhancing the resilience of communications:
  • Look beyond the technical solutions at processes and organisation
  • Identify and review the critical communication activities that underpin your response arrangements
  • Ensure diversity of your technical solutions
  • Adopt layered fall-back arrangements
  • Plan for appropriate interoperability
• Telecommunications Sub-Groups have been established in each Local Resilience Forum area to focus local delivery of the Strategy.
