Volunteering for All programme

Volunteering for All was a three year Office of the Third Sector (OTS) funded programme worth £4.5 million. The programme was launched in September 2006 and ran until March 2009.  The aim was to reduce barriers to volunteering for adults at risk of social exclusion.

The programme worked on three levels:

• identifying policy barriers to volunteering
• targeted awareness-raising campaigns, and
• funding to develop high quality exemplar volunteering opportunities

The Government is committed to ensuring that people have an equal opportunity to take part in voluntary activity. This programme was therefore specifically targeted at those who are at risk of social exculsion and traditionally volunteer less:

• people with disabilities or limiting long term illness
• people with no formal qualifications, and
• people from black and minority ethnic communities, with a specific focus on Asian and Chinese communities.

The programme was managed by the Media Trust on behalf of the OTS.
