The 2012 Olympics and Paralympics will inspire thousands of people to volunteer many of whom may not have done so in the past. The 2012 Inspiration and Legacy programme is a £1.6 million programme that will contribute to building a volunteering legacy from the London 2012 Games.
The Office of the Third Sector is funding Volunteering England and YouthNet to deliver the programme which aims to enable organisations to create and promote volunteering opportunities that have been inspired by the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. These opportunities will be particularly in the fields of sport, arts and culture and the environment and conservation.
