“The government recognises the need for stable funding for the voluntary sector and today's decisions reflect our determination to achieve that.
“In the last few weeks, the voluntary sector up and down the country has spelt out the effects they feared on their finances should additional resources be taken from the Big Lottery Fund.
“We have heard those representations and today's funding settlement protects both existing programmes and future resources for the voluntary sector.
“After today's announcement, the voluntary sector will get the same level of resources from the Big Lottery Fund that they would otherwise have received. Instead, the Olympic transfer will come from that portion which was expected to go to statutory agencies.
“I hope this is seen as a fair and equitable outcome by the voluntary sector.”
