The Bridges Ventures Social Entrepreneurs Fund has made its first investment

The Bridges Ventures Social Entrepreneurs Fund has made its first investment. The Fund has substantial backing from the Office of the Third Sector, which has committed to invest up to £5 million in the Fund.

The Fund has made an investment of £500,000 into 'Call Britannia', which runs outsource customer contact centres providing sustainable employment for people who have been long term unemployed, as well as a high quality service to customers.

A further £292,500 has been awarded to Call Britannia by the Government’s Future Jobs Fund to create some 10,000 jobs across the country. The new jobs will be based in unemployment hotspots across the UK and will enable young people and the long term unemployed to get experience that will boost their employment prospects.

Organisations in both the private and public sector will be encouraged to sub-contract work from their contract centres to Call Britannia. You can find out more about Call Britannia, its business model and its founder Karen Darby via the link below:
