20th November is Social Enterprise Day 2008. The day aims to both inspire the next generation of social entrepreneurs and celebrate and recognise the work of current social entrepreneurs in the UK.
This year social enterprise day also forms part of the first ever Global Entrepreneurship Week: a week which aims to unleash the enterprising ideas of young people from over 75 countries to address some of societies biggest problems.
Some of the events taking place on Social Enterprise Day include:
Launch of the ‘One Water Project’: One Water is a social enterprise that sells bottled water in the UK and uses the profits for water projects in Africa. The One Water Project is asking young people nationwide to come up with innovative and enterprising ways to come up with innovative and enterprising ways to sell bottles of One Water and raise enough to buy a new PlayPump that will provide safe drinking water for communities in Africa.
Blazing a trail – Kevin Brennan, Minister for the Third Sector, will be hosting a lunchtime event at Admiralty House on the day to showcase the achievements and potential of young social entrepreneurs.
Coutts Reception - Coutts is hosting an event to show its clients how business acumen can now be used for the common good. The evening reception, held at the bank’s headquarters in London’s Strand, will forge new partnerships between leading social entrepreneurs and Coutts’ clients.
