The Improvement and Development Agency's Beacon Scheme are holding a learning exchange event, 'Commissioning our Future - Increasing voluntary and community sector service delivery', on 30 January 2008. Phil Hope, Minister for the Third Sector will speak at the event.
Birmingham City Council and London Borough of Croydon were awarded beacon status for their partnership working with the voluntary sector in March 2007 and this event is an opportunity to draw on their experience and learning. Beacon workshops will focus on 'Working in partnership with the third sector to achieve better outcomes' and 'Political leadership of the commissioning process' with direct input from elected members, local authority officers and partners. Contributors on the day include Neil Cleeveley (NAVCA), Pat Samuel (Office of the Third Sector) and Sally Cooke (Local Government Association).
There is also the opportunity to find out more about the work of the Third Sector Commissioning Programme from Director Sarah Wood, and to discuss key issues affecting this area of service delivery through facilitated workshops and other networking opportunities.
