National Offender Management Service launches consultation on Third Sector Action Plan

The National Offender Management Service (NOMS) has launched a consultation on its Third Sector Action Plan. This plan is designed to build on the achievements of the third sector’s work towards reducing re-offending and protecting the public across the country and to break new ground in recognition of the developments that have taken place between Government and the third sector since 2004.

The draft plan builds on the current NOMS third sector action plan which is due to expire in March 2008. The document covers the role of the third sector in transforming public services, campaigning, giving voice to and strengthening communities. It sets out some proposed areas for action by NOMS and invites comments.

Consultation over 12 weeks from the end of November will enable NOMS to finalise this new plan to be published in April 2008. The draft plan is set into the wider context of a Ministry of Justice Third Sector Strategy, which will form the umbrella for more specific discussions and actions that address the various Ministry of Justice business areas. This is due to be published shortly and will also be subject to consultation..

Responses to the NOMS consultation should be received by 22 February 2008

Consultations have also been launched on three other, related issues:
