Capacitybuilders has announced details of a new £18 million, three-year funding programme to improve third sector support services. The Improving Reach programme will run from April 2008 and form a key part of the ChangeUp framework, supported by the Office of the Third Sector.
The funding programme will focus on making high-quality support services more accessible for front-line organisations working with socially excluded groups. The priority will be to help organisations working with:
The programme also aims to increase the capacity and sustainability of smaller third sector organisations which specialise in providing the support services.
Phil Hope, the Minister for the Third Sector, said:
“This investment will build on the success of the pilot Improving Reach Programme launched in 2006. Having recently met with a grant recipient I’m aware of the impact that the programme is having on community capacity building.
“The Improving Reach Programme will play an important role in strengthening sector support services available to frontline organisations dedicated to working in and with disadvantaged and marginalised communities.”
