Divine Chocolate, a fair trade chocolate company, won the Best Social Enterprise Award at this year’s Enterprising Solutions Awards, announced last night at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

The annual awards, run by the Social Enterprise Coalition on behalf of the Office of the Third Sector and other sponsors, are designed to showcase dynamic and pioneering social enterprises – businesses with mainly social or environmental goals.

Divine Chocolate won the main award in recognition of its flagship work helping Ghanaian farmers get a fair price for their cocoa and a share of the profits. The Best New Social Enterprise Award went to Women Like Us, which helps women with children find flexible work. Three other finalists were also recognised on the night.

Phil Hope, Minister for the Third Sector, said:

“I congratulate Divine Chocolate and the other winners of the Enterprising Solutions Awards wholeheartedly. They have the vision and the drive to build thriving businesses that give something back to society. They are an inspiration to the growing numbers of people who want to start their own businesses and benefit the lives of others at the same time.”

More details of the awards are available from the Enterprising Solutions website [External website].
