Charity law

Working closely with the Charity Commission, the independent regulator of charities in England and Wales, the Office of the Third Sector is responsible for:

• the reform of charity law, including the Charities Act 2006
• laws governing public charitable collections and
• identifying and taking forward proposals for improving regulation

We also support ministers in their functions in relation to the Commission and help the Commission with parliamentary business.
