The Strategic Futures Team produced a number of over-arching research papers to enable Government departments and other organisations with an interest in futures work to better develop their capacity to conduct futures work.

This report was undertaken with the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory to synthesise existing predictions on trends in sectors such as the economy, demographics, the environment, housing and health over the next decade, broken down into a period of relative certainty (2001-2006) and a period of lower certainty (2006-2011).

The ethnic minority population in the UK has grown continuously since the late 1940s. Given the increasingly important role that minority groups will play in the UK, the team has conducted an analysis of the possible economic performance of these groups over the next 20 years.

Produced with the Henley Centre, a UK consultancy firm, this report summarises some of the best practice currently employed in futures thinking and how to utilise this approach in policy making. The study includes examples of best practice from national and international academic institutions, businesses and public sector organisations.
