Rural Economies
This project provided a study of rural economies in the UK.
The report could constitute the most substantial and positive set of reforms to rural policy in the last 50 years. They would:
- ensure more effective use of government money in rural areas;
- address the concerns of rural communities - in terms of jobs and economic prosperity, the quality of the environmentand access to services;
- look to the future and allow the inevitable processes of adjustment - especially in the agriculture sector - to be managed effectively; and
- preserve what is valued most about rural England.
