Adoption

This study was requested by the Prime Minister as part of a major review of adoption. The remit was to provide an initial assessment of the main problem areas, identify options and make recommendations for Government policy on the use of adoption for children in the care of Local Authorities.

The study team from the Performance and Innovation Unit drew on research evidence and contributions from a wide range of organisations involved in the field. The report contains recommendations to the Government and was issued for consultation as part of the process of developing policy.
