Neil Sherlock is the partner in charge of public and regulatory affairs at KPMG. He joined KPMG in 1985 as an economist in the consulting firm and worked in a variety of roles including heading the office of Lord Sharman when he was International Chairman and more recently working with Sir Michael Rake on regulatory reform for the accountancy profession post Enron.
Educated at Oxford University, Neil graduated with a first in Philosophy, Politics and Economics and was President of the Oxford Union. He was joint editor of The Progressive Century: the future of the centre-left in Britain. He is a former adviser to Paddy Ashdown and Sir Menzies Campbell and now advises Nick Clegg. Neil was appointed as Nick Clegg’s nominee on the Institute for Government.
Neil is Chairman of Working Families, Vice-Chairman of the KPMG Foundation, a member of the Board of the think tank CentreForum, a member of the editorial board of the IPPR’s Public Policy Research, a Trustee of the think tank Demos and was a member of the Armed Forces’ Pay Review Body. Neil is also a Trustee of the Every Child a Chance Trust and HTI.
