New Deal – the Cabinet Office signed up to the New Deal initiative in 1998. Our aim was to participate in the initiative as fully as we could and at least in proportion to our share in the labour market. There have been no New Deal starters in the period covered.

Appointments under Permitted exceptions to Fair and Open Competition:

There were five exceptions. Casual appointments, which were extended beyond 12 months as a result of extensions to the projects being worked on: one at C2 level, one at B1 level one at Band A level and one at SCS1 level. There was one exception, at B2 level, reserved for the Commissioners.
