The annual competition for serving civil servants wishing to join the Fast Stream once again proved a valuable source of talent, and the success rate remained high: of those shortlisted by their departments to attend the Fast Stream Assessment Centre, 48.5 per cent were successful (cf 49.5 per cent in 2005).
The 2006 In–Service competition included a new option for serving Government Social Research staff, and a pilot scheme for those wishing to qualify as a finance professional.
