There continues to be a concerted effort to reduce the number of absences recorded as unknown and ill defined. Improvements to the reporting process introduced in February 2008, are likely to lead to a decrease in the numbers of unknown illnesses.

The data for the 12 months ending 31 March 2008 will be published in August 2008.
