Whilst the Cabinet Office is pleased with the results in comparison with other departments, we recognise that there is still work to be done to embed policies which may contribute to an overall reduction in sick absence.
Over the next 12 months there will be a concerted effort to reduce the number of absences recorded as unknown to enable us to better understand the reasons for absence by Group and operational Unit.
In preparation for the introduction of Shared Services we will be developing improved feedback to managers about absences in their Units. Using this information we will consider how best we can reduce levels of absence.
