Targets for reducing administrative burdens

Simplification plans will include targets for achieving a net reduction in administrative burdens. It has been estimated that simplifying administrative activities could deliver substantial savings for business and the UK economy.

The Admin Burdens Measurement Exercise identified for each department the total administrative costs placed on business by regulation. Targets apply to the administrative burdens identified by the exercise. They do not cover the proportion of cost that relate to 'Business as Usual' activities. Activities which business has indicated they would choose to do even if the regulation did not exist.
