The BRE works closely with public sector staff, government departments and other interested organisations to reduce centrally imposed burdens of unnecessary regulation, red tape and bureaucracy which could prevent the efficient delivery of services by public sector staff. This involves two strands of work.
The first is focussed on reducing existing burdens highlighted by front-line staff, including the development of a rolling programme of simplification measures. This work is undertaken through project work in the shape of ‘Making a Difference’ (MaD) projects or Consultancy projects focussed on individual areas of the public sector.
The second is aimed at bureaucracy prevention by working with key public service departments to prevent the imposing of new unnecessary burdens on front-line staff.
