Guidance on Costs and Benefits

New guidance on assessing the costs and benefits of government inspection activity

The Government's Policy on Inspection of Public Services requires that inspection should be able to demonstrate that it delivers benefits commensurate with its cost, including the cost to those inspected. HM Treasury and the Cabinet Office have jointly developed guidance on assessing the costs and benefits of government inspection activity.
