Withdrawals and repeals

In September 2005, the European Commission announced that it would withdraw 67 proposals because they were not consistent with the Lisbon Agenda, they did not meet Better Regulation standards, were not advancing in the legislative process or were simply outdated. This announcement followed a screening exercise of the 183 proposals pending before the European Council and the European Parliament that predated 1 January 2004.

As part of the Commission's three–year simplification programme it is expected that some existing legislation will be repealed.
