Evaluating your Consultation
5. Monitor your department's effectiveness at consultation, including through the use of a designated consultation co-ordinator. Code of Practice on Consultation, Criterion 5, p.10
It is important to evaluate your consultation properly and to incorporate evaluation into your planning.
Evaluating your consultation will help you to:
- find out which parts of the consultation process were successful and which were not, and help you to establish the reasons for this
- think about unexpected obstacles and outcomes that resulted from the process and how to mitigate them in future
- inform planning and feasibility assessments for future consultations and projects
- re-assess your relationships with key stakeholders
- establish to what extent your consultation was cost-effective
