Post-legislative scrutiny

Arrangements are now in place for Bills to undergo a process of post-legislative scrutiny three to five years after they receive Royal Assent. This involves initially the submission of a memorandum to the relevant departmental select committee. Further details of the process and guidance about can be obtained from PB Secretariat.

Before a Bill team disperses it should consider what it needs to do, in terms of recording its intentions and objectives, to prepare its successors for this process. The OPC team is available to be consulted at this time
