Speeches

The Prime Minister, other Ministers and members of OPSR have given a number of speeches on public services reform.

"New Approaches to Public Service Delivery"

Economist Roundtable Event on Public Services Reform
On 29th and 30th January 2003, The Economist facilitated the first Roundtable event with the French Government to debate State Reform, a priority of the new French Government since its election in 2002. The event brought together members of the French Government, leaders of industry and respected international figures to debate reform and the Government's achievements in the first eight months of its term.
Wendy Thomson was invited to speak about the British experience of reform and on whether this was a model to follow.

CAPAM Conference
The Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management (CAPAM) held their bi-annual conference in Glasgow from 7-11 September 2002. The theme of the conference was "Creating Self-Confident Government: Reflections and New Frontiers". Lord Macdonald, then Minister for the Cabinet Office, gave a presentation on the role of regulation in co-ordinating improved public service delivery across the public services. The speech emphasised the importance of the four principles and can be downloaded here:

Sir Andrew Turnbull on the Delivery and Reform Agenda
Sir Andrew Turnbull, Head of the Civil Service reiterated the key objectives of the delivery and reform agenda over the next three years.
