
The role of the Secretary of State of Wales and the Wales Office is to promote the devolution settlement for Wales, to promote the interests of Wales in policy formation by the Government, to promote government policies in Wales, to steer through Parliament primary legislation giving specific powers to the National Assembly for Wales and to operate the constitutional settlement under the Government of Wales Act 2006.
The Wales Office is part of the Ministry of Justice for administration purposes whilst retaining its separate identity. It continues to report to the Secretary of State for Wales.
