The Committee's cross–party membership from both Houses is appointed by the Prime Minister, in consultation with the leaders of the two main opposition parties. The Chairman of the Committee is the Right Honourable Paul Murphy MP. Support to the Committee is provided by a Clerk and secretariat in the Cabinet Office.
