Who Should Attend
The course is primarily designed for those working in organisations, such as local authorities and other agencies, that do not have a bespoke internal programme of strategic emergency management training. However, those that do have their own programmes may wish to send delegates to experience the multi-agency dimension.
Delegates should have, or be aspiring to, a role at the local strategic level of emergency management. The challenges presented on the course will appeal to strategic thinkers, even if they have relatively little experience of civil protection.
Aim
To prepare the delegate for emergency management activity at the local strategic level.
Objectives
By the end of the event delegates will be able to:
Progression
This course provides skills and knowledge training for individuals who may be required to operate within a strategic-level single or multi-agency decision making group. It provides the ideal opportunity for individuals to acquire and practice decision making skills and competences before participating in team exercises. The next stage of training would be participation in a GOLD STANDARD exercise.
(The 'Strategic Risk Management' and 'Strategic Decision-Making in Emergency Management' courses are complementary and we anticipate delegates may want to attend both. To facilitate this, some of these have been scheduled to run back to back within the same week.)
